HEXTIC LAUNCH SYDNEY ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL 2014
HEXTIC – A creative installation celebrating the Sydney Architecture Festival 2014. UNSW bachelor students in CoDe, Australian School of Architecture + Design, led by Dr Hank Haeusler, Rebekah Araullo and Eliot Rosenberg merge digital computation with interactive technology.
The process combines the hexagon as the integral building block and LED media culminating in a structure that augments the entrance to the Grasshopper Bar.
In an alleyway germinating urban realities people are like water droplets that yield to form pools, so do gatherings forming cultural dimensions.
Using digital fabrication Hextic is designed to emulate water droplet ripples. The hexagon cells illustrate the efficiency of circle packing structures. They bond into a tight arrangement shaped to create fluid surface undulations using computational methods. Audio sensors embedded in the structure would detect synthesised sound levels and trigger rich data forming dynamic images made by LED lighting.

Black Market Sake are specialist importers & distributors who work directly with small artisanal Sake producers in Japan. All sakes are Junmai (pure rice sake), made without additions and rely on time-honoured traditions, quality rice, local water and the technique and skill of the Toji (master brewer).
